Featuring six parallel runways, this airport is expected to become one of the largest airports in the world. The new airport, covering 57km² of land, aims to transform Riyadh into a global logistics hub and boost transport, trade, and tourism.

As outlined in the master plan, the airport is projected to accommodate 120 million passengers by 2030 and handle 3.5 million tons of cargo by 2050. In addition, it will encompass 12 square kilometres of airport support amenities, residential and leisure spaces, retail stores, and real estate for logistics.

The beautiful interiors and the sustainable designs will make it one of the world's largest and most visited airports. Riyadh’s new international airport is set to transform the travel experience for its passengers.

The airport design will embody Riyadh's identity and the Saudi culture; it aims to obtain the LEED Platinum certification for eco-friendly projects, as the airport will incorporate cutting-edge green initiatives into its design and be powered by renewable energy.

The Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia, the country's sovereign wealth fund, will construct the airport. This is part of PIF's plan to diversify the economy through promising sectors and aligns with the National Transport Strategy and the Global Supply Chain Resilience Initiative.

According to the Vision 2030 objectives, the airport is anticipated to add $7 billion annually to non-oil GDP and generate 103,000 direct and indirect jobs. In July, Saudi Arabia announced its intention to reduce airport fees by 35% in the current year to increase air traffic.
