Local Content Management in the Oil and Gas Industry

Local content has become a core priority in the oil and gas industry, ensuring host nations secure lasting economic and social value from petroleum developments. In response, many governments have embedded mandatory local content requirements into regulatory and contractual frameworks. Operators, contractors, and service providers must therefore align procurement, workforce, and supply chain strategies with these rules while still delivering on cost, quality, and schedule.

The Local Content Management in the Oil and Gas Industry training by LPC equips participants with the strategic, commercial, and administrative capability to manage local content obligations effectively. It explains how requirements translate into practical procurement and supply chain actions, supporting compliance while improving efficiency and value creation. Participants will also see how local content influences purchasing decisions, contracting approaches, and supplier engagement across the project lifecycle.

The course focuses on the core elements of an effective local content strategy: developing local workforce capability, strengthening supplier capacity, embedding objectives into business plans, and implementing monitoring and reporting systems. It supports both those building local content policies and those improving existing models, using best practices and real-world examples across regulatory contexts. By linking regulatory expectations with commercial and operational realities, participants learn to use local content not just for compliance, but as a lever for sustainable execution, stakeholder alignment, and long-term value.
