Strategic capital convergence turns sovereign vision into global technological dominance, uniting energy leadership with artificial intelligence.

PIF and Aramco finalised a transaction on Sunday, November 1, via a wholly owned subsidiary, acquiring a 49% stake in HUMAIN, leaving PIF with a 51% ownership stake. This deal aims to bolster HUMAIN’s growth and enhance its global AI capabilities, leveraging contributions of AI assets, expertise, and talent from both PIF and Aramco.
The transaction aims to enhance HUMAIN's goal of creating a competitive integrated AI ecosystem that covers the entire spectrum, including data centres, high-performance computing, advanced models, applications, and industry solutions.
Plus, it will facilitate HUMAIN’s plans to expand data centre capacity by 2030 and provide solutions for large-scale AI deployment in both the public and private sectors. This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia's efforts to promote the advancement and utilisation of cutting-edge data and AI technologies, as well as to attract talent and investment opportunities.
PIF's strategy for AI and the digital economy capitalises on Saudi Arabia's global market competitiveness, stressing innovation and capacity building. The collaboration with Aramco in HUMAIN is in line with PIF's 2026-2030 strategy, which seeks to enhance integration across economic ecosystems, broaden private sector opportunities, and foster the transformation of national companies into globally competitive entities.
Likewise, Aramco is set to utilise HUMAIN's AI infrastructure to integrate advanced AI capabilities into its industrial applications, thereby boosting its global ecosystem and operations. As both a shareholder and strategic partner with HUMAIN, Aramco and its affiliates stand to gain significantly from HUMAIN's advanced AI services.
This partnership seems to create opportunities for revenue growth and high profit margins, enhancing Aramco's ability to monetise its existing AI and digital assets, while also aligning with its broader strategic goals and supporting its core energy business.

Remarkably, Deputy Governor and Head of MENA Investments at PIF, Yazeed A. Al-Humied highlighted the strategic merger of PIF and Aramco’s AI investments under HUMAIN, underscoring its potential to enhance talent growth, technology advancement, and intellectual property. He stated that this move aligns with PIF’s goals, positioning HUMAIN as a global leader in AI, fostering private sector participation, and promoting technological development in Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Aramco President & CEO Amin H. Nasser underlined the significance of the HUMAIN deal, highlighting Aramco's commitment to innovation and technology. He reported that since 2023, the company has realised $11.3 billion in value from advanced digital and AI technologies, mainly from AI solutions. The partnership with PIF strengthens Aramco's status as a global leader in technology and AI, focusing on localising the AI industry for enhanced deployment. Further, Nasser expressed excitement about collaborating with PIF to shape the future of AI both regionally and globally.
Besides, the transaction entails around SAR 9.9 billion (approximately $2.6 billion) in cash contributions from Aramco to HUMAIN in 2026, along with investments in AI, computing, and digital assets.
HUMAIN, launched in May 2025, is focused on developing comprehensive AI capabilities across four key domains: next-generation data centres, hyper-performance infrastructure and cloud platforms, advanced AI models including ALLAM—recognised as one of the most powerful multimodal large Arabic language models (LLMs)—and transformative AI solutions.
The company plans to deploy 3 gigawatts of AI data centre capacity by 2030 to effectively respond to the increasing regional and global demand for AI computing, positioning itself as a potential leading exporter of AI worldwide.
Furthermore, Aramco stands as a global leader in integrated energy and chemicals, recognised for its strategic role in the hydrocarbon sector. The company not only generates significant value throughout the energy supply chain but also contributes to social and economic advancements for communities worldwide.
In parallel, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia has emerged as a foremost investor with a robust long-term investment strategy. PIF aims to facilitate the economic transformation of Saudi Arabia while ensuring sustainable financial returns, positioning itself as a pivotal force in the nation’s economic future.
