Oil spills present significant environmental, economic, and reputational risks to organisations and coastal communities. Delays, poor coordination, or inadequate early response measures can escalate incidents rapidly, increasing environmental damage and clean-up costs. A structured and well-prepared first response capability is therefore critical to minimising impact and protecting both people and ecosystems.
The First Response to Oil Spills course by LPC Training equips participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to manage the initial stages of spill incidents effectively. Over five focused days, participants explore oil behaviour and environmental fate, risk assessment procedures, containment strategies, recovery techniques, and health and safety requirements within recognised emergency management frameworks.
This course focuses on real operational environments in marine, coastal, and industrial settings. Participants will develop the competence to assess incidents confidently, deploy appropriate containment and recovery systems, and coordinate response activities in compliance with safety and environmental standards. By the end of the programme, participants will be able to contribute effectively to structured spill response operations and enhance organisational emergency readiness.
