Today's world is experiencing many changes in the labour market, from remote employment opportunities to hybrid work. Can we imagine the difference between the difficulty of finding work in 1999 and the ease of getting a job now? So, how will these changes affect the future of work?

This article summarises the benefits of digital transformation and its impact on the future of work and how the global labour market will become.

What is digital transformation? Does it significantly affect the future of work?

Digital transformation is integrating technology and electronic methods of daily business performance or innovating new ways of task development and service delivery using digital technologies.

The use of technology has radically changed the business model as most jobs (jobs) today are not dependent on being in the company's headquarters, where they are remotely accomplished from home. It also provided the opportunity to create other fully digital occupations that are not based on physical forces.

Digital transformation has gained popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, becoming the safest way for many companies to ensure their continuity in the future of work.

Many steps are needed to make the digital transformation work effectively. First, you must study your company's situation and ability to withstand extreme change. Then, develop an appropriate plan to get it started.

What is the role of digital transformation in the future of work?

Digital transformation is a critical element of the future and development of work. This concept has made a distinctive resonance and has been the best option to keep abreast of products, leverage resources, find new markets for all companies and follow the world's news anywhere.

Besides seeking solutions with minimal time and effort, especially in the light of the COVID pandemic, which has affected many work sectors to varying degrees and has led to the urgent need to learn and use information technology.

Digital transformation plays the most significant role in determining the future of work, achieving the following advantages:

Future of Work

  • Cost reduction:

Using technology technologies such as artificial intelligence provides companies with an excellent way to drastically reduce business costs by automating tasks and ensuring no faults, as well as saving equipment maintenance costs, energy expenses, and human resources.

  • Saving time:

Saving time is one of the most important benefits of digital transformation in the future of work. This technology facilitates completing most tasks easily and quickly, such as electronic payment, bank services, easy search, finding the required information, and using digital tools such as Google Workspace.

  • Ease of Customer Service:

The use of digital transformation makes more profits through rapid and meaningful access to all customers around the world. This allows companies to keep pace with the rapid development of the world of work. Communication with customers has become easier and faster with digital transformation. For example, electronic communication methods can be used to serve customers and solve problems easier.

  • Remote employment:

Today, many young people are engaged in self-employment and remote employment, providing companies with a more significant opportunity to acquire more efficient workers and collaborate with experts from around the world than ever before. Remote career is one of the most essential pillars of the future of work. Most jobs are expected to shift to remote work rather than traditional engagement methods.

  • Increasing the competitiveness of companies:

The use of digital transformation and technology at work increases flexibility and efficiency, and digital technology provides many companies with the opportunity to open up to many different audiences and multiple products. This increases competition between them and improves the economy and business.

  • Increasing corporate productivity:

Replacing many traditional time-consuming processes with automated processes that help employees accomplish their tasks efficiently dramatically increases the productivity of the companies that use them.

What are the challenges to using digital transformation in the future of work?

The concept of digital transformation faces many challenges, some of which are:

  • Privacy hack concerns:

Protecting the information and data of individuals and organisations within the company from hacking by competitors can be a challenging task, and getting personal privacy has become problematic in the prospects of digital transformation. This puts all companies at risk of hacking during the period of their use of digital transformation technologies.

  • Social isolation:

The use of technology significantly leads to a kind of social isolation that negatively affects people who will do this work and leads to increased depression and susceptibility to mental illness.

  • Job insecurity:

The presence of technology will make it easier to give up labour in many occupations and jobs and this is sure to generate a kind of job insecurity in people.

  • A short lifespan of smart devices:

The short lifespan of digital systems makes researchers work day and night to update them in a way that keeps pace with developments. This leads to the need to replace smart devices continuously because older devices no longer correspond to new data in the field of modern technology.

In conclusion,

Digital transformation will reshape the business as we never knew it, so it's essential to understand how influential it is and how to exploit it to get the best results to build our business in line with tomorrow's aspirations.
