Al-Ula Airport Terminal Development Boosts Visitor Numbers and Expands Facilities

Ongoing development work at Al-Ula International Airport aligns to increase annual visitor numbers by 2035. The recently awarded contract includes two components – expanding the existing hangar to provide necessary storage, maintenance, and operational space and constructing a new purpose-built FBO Terminal building.

This project continues the collaborative work between the Royal Commission for Al-Ula (RCU) and the awarded company, which began last year with opening of a new airport hangar for private aircraft in November.

Constructed by clean energy standards, the 3,000 sqm hangar is outfitted with ground flight and engineering crews, offering long-term parking services.

Under the agreement, the awarded company will deliver a comprehensive range of services, such as a complete architectural design and engineering package for detailed design, airside design and airport operation support services, construction and turnover support services, infrastructure and landscaping design, airfield geometry and master planning, gradings, airfield lighting, markings, and signage.

RCU states that the development of Al-Ula International Airport is a crucial aspect of its strategy to establish the ancient city as a top global tourism destination, showcasing history, heritage, culture, and ecotourism. The airport serves as a gateway to northwest Arabia, elevating Al-Ula's fast-growing status as a modern and efficient logistical hub for the region and supporting the comprehensive regeneration of Al-Ula County.
