The launch of a new high school course on artificial intelligence (AI) marks Saudi Arabia's entry into the future of education. The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) and the Ministry of Education launched the program with the goal of giving the next generation essential digital skills.

A larger initiative to localise Al education and develop a workforce with digital skills in the Kingdom includes the Introduction to Artificial Intelligence course.

In line with Saudi Arabia's ambition to become a regional and global leader in Al and data, the announcement was made at the Human Capability Initiative 2025 conference, which brought together more than 300 leaders and experts from around the world.

Target Audience and Course Specifics

As an elective, the course is intended for general track 12th graders and is intended to provide students with a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and its practical applications while also keeping up with global technological

trends. The programme's initial phase is anticipated to benefit over 50,000 students throughout the Kingdom.

Notably, a specially designed digital platform that offers an engaging and interactive learning environment will be used to instruct students. This platform ensures both theoretical understanding and practical application of AI concepts by combining project-based assessments, teacher supervision, and multimedia content. Throughout the academic year, the programme will function with a focus on student involvement and practical application.

Getting Ready for the Digital Age

Saudi Arabia's larger Vision 2030 initiative, which seeks to make the Kingdom a knowledge-based economy, includes the course as a crucial component. By making educational investments, the nation is preparing its students to lead the data-driven economies of the future.

According to SDAIA, this action is a critical step in cultivating the talent needed to lead and innovate across a range of industries, including engineering, technology, and healthcare.

Encouraging Innovation and National Growth

The SDAIA is leading numerous initiatives to develop national capabilities in data and AI, including the introduction of the AI course. Saudi Arabia's goal to develop a strong data infrastructure and produce a new generation of AI professionals who will influence the Kingdom's economic future is supported by the initiative.

According to a statement from SDAIA, “This initiative represents a key step towards empowering the next generation with the tools and skills they need to thrive in the data-driven economies of the future,” which reflects the Kingdom's long-term aim of growth driven by innovation and knowledge.

Taking a Forward Look

Saudi Arabia is establishing itself as a global leader in AI education and technology development by incorporating AI into the curriculum. The course will be closely watched as it launches, and it may be expanded and modified to satisfy the needs of a quickly changing digital environment.

This new phase in Saudi Arabia's educational history demonstrates the country's dedication to raising a generation of digitally literate people prepared to face the challenges of the global economy of the future.
